Troop 83 Christmas Trees

Loveland, CO, 11/29/2008 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – AirportView.net (TM) has donated time-lapse video services to Boy Scout Troop 83 to promote the troop’s annual Christmas tree fundraiser.  Using the same equipment that captures weather movies, Airport View (TM) co-founder Ray Franklin produced time-lapse movies of the troop as they setup the tree lot and received the first delivery of trees.

Each year, Troop 83 of Fort Collins, Colorado, sets up and operates a Christmas tree lot to raise money for the boys.  The boys do much of the work while the adults assist with planning and supervision.  The boys choose how many hours they wish to work and are paid by the hour.  All profits are divided among the boys according to the number of hours worked.  Donations keep expenses low and the boys receive at least 45% of sales each year.

The boys use the earned money to pay for summer camp, monthly campouts and gear.  In the last few years, the troop has attended summer camps at Ben Delatour Scout Ranch, Laramie Peak in Wyoming, and Melita Island on Flathead Lake in Montana.  The boys have also planned and conducted outings throughout Colorado at locations such as the Great Sand Dunes National Park, Mount Sherman (14er) and Michigan Lakes.

The Christmas tree lot is located just east of the intersection of Mulberry and Lemay.  It is south of Home Depot.  The lot is open daily through December 21st with hours of 4 pm to 8:30 pm weekdays and 9 am to 8:30 pm weekends.  Visit the Troop 83 web site to view the movie of the lot setup.  Both the Airport View and Troop 83 sites host the tree delivery movie.
