Airport View sponsors weather cameras at five sites across Colorado. At each location, the local pilot community has embraced the service and uses it extensively to make flight planning decisions.
Each site has multiple cameras pointed at the sky to show current weather. Images are refreshed every minute and all images are saved on the Airport View server to make time-lapse movies.
In Loveland, at the Fort Collins-Loveland airport (KFNL), the cameras show weather systems moving into the area from the northeast, northwest and west.
The Meadowlake cameras (00V) are popular with the local soaring organization as well as the pilots who regularly fly in that area. The cameras have captured many dramatic images from this site, which regularly experiences extreme weather.
Other sites include Erie (KEIK), Alamosa (KALS) and Pagosa Springs (KPSO).
